This 1997 film, starring Andy Garcia as a conflict-ridden prosecuting attorney in New York City, is a morality play masquerading as a crime/courtroom drama. It’s somehow too schematic in its rendering, oddly artless, and yet also an interesting film for an evening when no other and better film is at hand. Felt like a play, too, which I don’t like in film. Message: Navigate moral gray areas as best you can. And don’t give up.
