A young moose appeared a few yards behind us on the trail underneath the I-90 overpass on yesterday’s walk with Meistie.  He seemed disoriented and, perhaps, looking for mom.  I was worried about mom, too, actually.  So I crossed over to the sidewalk on the other side of the South Fork to get back to the car.  When I passed, the young moose had inched his way down the steep bank to the river.  The little guy was bleating and I wasn’t sure he could get back up to the trail.  I called the sheriff’s dispatch number but I don’t think any action resulted.  Will check if he’s still around on today’s walk.

Today, Aug. 5, the little guy was nowhere in sight.
